Polar Express

This year we did something new and bought our tickets to the Polar Express in Sacramento.  Usually you have to be a member of the train museum to get tickets but our friends Troy and Amy are members and got the tickets for us.
The day of the Polar Express I went and picked the girls up from school early which was exciting for them.  We went to target and I bought us the movie The Polar Express.  Then they put on their pj's and as we drove up to Sacramento we watched our movie.  I wasn't planning on going on the train with them and was just going to shop around while they went because they couldn't get enough tickets but when we got there Troy somehow got me and presly on.  It was a fun experience for the kids.  They gave us cookies and hot chocolate and we read along in the book as they read it over the train speaker.  There was music and a little bit of dancing as we headed for the north pole.  We were even visited by the hobo that is in the movie.  When we made it to the north pole the kids watched out of the window and saw the elves getting ready for Christmas and they saw Santa.  On the way back to the train station Santa came on the train and said hi to all the kids and gave them each a bell.  It was pretty fun and the kids liked it for the most part.
Nikell said though as we were looking out the window at the elves, "mom those aren't the real elves!  Real elves are small like Rocky".   I had to laugh and say your right Nikell this is just for fun because the real North Pole is too far away to go visit and the real elves are very busy getting ready for Christmas.
