Christmas Eve

When I was a kid one of my favorite things ever was Christmas Eve. I loved our tradition of having soup for dinner and sometimes having it a candlelight dinner, I loved having all my family together and singing songs together. Now that we have our own family we have started doing some of these same traditions although when we stay home in CA for Christmas we don't have the family around like we would at home but this year we had our friends over to hang out and sing songs with us. Toby had to work most of the day on Christmas Eve so me and the girls made sugar cookies and got dinner ready most of the day. Toby got home right before dinner time and Troy and Amy and their cute kids Tate, Sophie and Abby came over. First the kids frosted cookies for Santa Claus and then we ate our yummy soup dinner. After dinner we sang songs, the girls played their Christmas songs on the piano. Nikell played Jingle Bells and Brooklyn played The First Noel. Then Tate and Nikell sang their songs from their kindergarten program and Brooklyn did her best to follow along. After that Toby told the kids the story of Christ's birth and we did our best to act it out. It was a little chaotic but the kids had a lot of fun! After the Douglases went home everyone opened their Christmas pj's and Toby read them their Christmas stories. The girls were so excited about Christmas they could barely go to sleep. It was a very fun, magical day and night!
