She's 7 Folks

It's true! This girl turned 7!! In one year she will be old enough to be baptized and it feels like a dream!! Every day it seems now, I look at her and see a beautiful girl who is no longer my little baby. Even though love seeing her grow and mature, it comes with a tint of sadness because those chubby cheeks will before too long have blush on them and those sweet innocent eyes will soon see a world that isn't quite as perfect as her little eyes once believed it to be. I want to protect her forever and keep her young and innocent. Brooklyn promised me that no matter how old she got, she would always be my baby! I know this is true and know that even though someday I will need to let her experience more and see more, all I can do is just have faith that my baby will always know her mommy loves her and that I will always be here for her to have our little "talks" and no matter what she goes through she will have learned what is right from her parents who adore her! So here's to looking forward to the rest of these sweet innocent years and embracing the fact that my baby is growing up!

Play Date

Sometimes to pass the time when the girls are at school, Presly and I go hang out with some of our friends.  Her little friends that are in our ward are great little friends for her.  Abby and Sophie are the sweetest twin girls ever and we get to see them a lot because they are part of the douglas family, some of our closest friends.  Then Grant is a little boy that is new to our ward and he and Presly have a love hate relationship.;)  We always have a great time with our friends though and I'm grateful there are so many kids Presly's age for her to go to church with and to play with!

Soccer

The girls wanted to do soccer with their friends this year.  Kaiya and Jaydin did soccer last year and we didn't do it and the girls thought it would be fun to do it this year.  However since Brooklyn has decided to be on the gymnastics team this year I told her we wouldn't be able to do as many things and the only way she would be able to do soccer is if she went with Nikell's group so that we didn't have to go to soccer at 2 different times.  She agreed and said she was ok with that.  It's a good thing we decided to do this because since she has never played soccer in a league before she was actually a perfect fit with the kids that were a little younger than her.  I think the thing we discovered this year is that among all the things Brooklyn loves to do, soccer may not be on the list.
I don't think she likes contact sports much.  She gets really mad and frustrated if she or her team isn't doing well and its like she will just give up if they are trailing behind at all.  The first few games were a struggle and her attitude was really not the best but as the weeks went on she started to gain a little confidence and she started having a better attitude.  She did much better when she gave it a good solid effort!  She even showed us she had a big solid kick and that she could really get to the ball when she needed too.
Nikell on the other hand had a fantastic attitude and was smiling most the time.  There wasn't a time that I looked up that Nikell wasn't running.  She would finish the game with her face as red as a tomato because of all her running!  She even told me her side was hurting and her tummy felt sick.  Haha she was a little go getter!  I think she enjoyed herself and would enjoy doing it in the years to come.  Brooklyn may not be as excited but that's ok, thats why we tried it to see if they would like it.  Brooklyn was doing cartwheels all over the field so I think that's saying something:).

First Day of School

Summer goes way too fast but for these girls, they were so excited to start school.  It's so hard for me to send off a new little kindergartner!  Nikell is NOT old enough to start kindergarten is she???  I think I may just keep her home with me forever!!  This little girl has me wrapped around her little finger!   I love her little angel face and although I know she is more then ready to go off to big old kindergarten it's still so hard for me to let her go!!
Nikell was a little sad that her and her best friend Kaiya had to go to different schools but she cheered right up when I told her that her teacher would be Ms. Huff, Brooklyn's kindergarten teacher last year.  Brooklyn started 1st grade this year with Mrs. Lucchesi.
It was so fun to see how excited they both were to go to school that first day and to see Brooklyn with all of her friends again.  Looks like it's just me and littles all morning now.  what to do, what to do:)
